Last Sunday, the 14 of us including Ms Chua & Ms Loh visited Unicorn Island off My Tho which is the northern part of Mekong Delta. We took a ferry ride to the island. The tour was kindly arranged by Miss Chua & Mrs Loh. Many Thanks to them!! With the tour guide on board the small ferry, we sailed and sang our way to the island along one of the branches of Mekong Delta.Upon reaching the island, we were given a brief history of the place and its uniqueness. We even had a first hand view of the bridge that is still under construction which will link the island to the city. Unicorn island is very much a village. Honey extraction is being carried out and also coconut sweets are produced there. We even had a drink which contained honey, royal jelly and bee pollen. Some of them took photos with a pet python which was about 1 metre (estimation). After which we walked around the village area where sourvenir shops had been set up. We had tropical fruits for snack and some vietnamese women sang traditional songs for us too! We left for the ferry and they took us to another part of the island where we boarded a smaller boat(sampan) and had a mekong canal tour. The sampan ride took about 15 minutes.

We arrived at another village, walk through it and arrived at a monkey bridge. Lunch Time: Open-Air Restaurant. We had elephant fish which was a delicacy at the restaurant.
After which we concluded our trip and sailed back to My Tho. It was a nice and enriching experience....especially for those who had been living comfortably back in singapore....Children having fun.
